About Us

The IAU & WMA 50km World Championships is one of the premier events in the global ultrarunning calendar, organized by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) in collaboration with the World Masters Athletics (WMA), Indian Athletics and NEB Sports. Spanning a distance of 50 kilometers, this prestigious ultramarathon bridges the gap between traditional marathons and longer endurance events, attracting top-tier ultrarunners from across the world.

Participation in the championship is highly competitive and determined by national qualification standards, with each country’s ultrarunning federation selecting athletes based on strict performance criteria. This ensures a field composed of elite-level runners, each capable of sustaining remarkable speed and endurance over extended distances.

Renowned for its fast-paced competition and high-caliber field, the IAU & WMA 50km World Championships test not only physical stamina but also mental resilience. Athletes must navigate the fine balance between pace and preservation to succeed.

Beyond the intense competition, the championship serves as a global stage for ultrarunning—promoting the sport’s visibility and growth while fostering international camaraderie among athletes. It celebrates human endurance at its finest and provides a platform for runners to achieve personal and national glory.
