The IAU 50km World Championship is a prestigious ultramarathon race organized by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) first time in India.The 50km distance is a popular choice for ultrarunners, offering a unique challenge that falls between a marathon and longer ultramarathon distances. Participation in the IAU 50km World Championship is typically based on qualification standards established by each country's national ultrarunning association or federation. Athletes need to meet specific performance criteria in order to be selected for their respective national teams.

The championship race itself is a competitive event featuring some of the best ultrarunners in the world. The race is known for its high level of competition and fast-paced running. Runners must have a combination of speed, endurance, and mental toughness to excel in this distance

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Eligibility Criteria
  • These championships are open only to men and women who were born on or before 1 December 1988 and who are physically fit.
  • Entry signifies that each competitor must follow the rules laid down by the technical and organizing committees.
  • WMA has the right to reject entries of athletes considered ineligible through misconduct or other disciplinary related matters.
  • An athlete must be a citizen of the country they will represent, or they must be a resident of that country for a minimum of 3 years.
  • If an athlete has represented a different country at a previous WMA World Championship or Regional Championship, they must have change-of-allegiance paperwork on file with WMA at least 30 days before the entry deadline.

Eligibility Criteria
  • The IAU 50K WC are only for the athletes and the team officially entered by IAU Member Federations. Only athletes and teams officially registered by their National Federation will count for the Championships teams’ result. Every Country can send 9 men and 9 women with a maximum number of officials according to team number (1-6 athletes: 3 officials, 7-12 athletes: 6 officials, 13-18 athletes: 9 officials).
  • For the individual results, it will only rank the performances(km) of the athletes in each delegation.
  • For the teams’ results, only 6 per team, the delegation will be ranked according to the addition of the performances(km) of their 3 best athletes in the team. During the Award Ceremony, IAU medals will be given to 6 athletes and the team leader. Team leader must confirm the names of these 6 athletes who will be ranked in the team competition before the Technical Meeting (at the Outfit Meeting).
