WHY “RUN TO THE MOON”?
Given the global pandemic situation, a suitable alternate to engage with fitness enthusiasts and runners in particular. A ‘Virtual Run’ is an idea… giving runners the flexibility to run anytime, anywhere. It is RUN TO THE MOON because it is the 51st Anniversary of Man on Moon, on 21st July 2020.
This running event is scheduled between 20th June and 20th July, 2020.
The distance run by participants will be collected and tracked on a daily basis. The target is to achieve a total mileage equivalent to the distance of the Moon from Earth – 3,84,400 kms.
The donation made during the registration will go towards supporting the Support Staff of Sports Organisations, Institutions and Departments.

Runners can choose one of the Champions’ Team to join in and create a cumulative mileage based on individual running score, during the time of registration.
The respective Champion will channelise the nominal fee collected at this stage towards supporting the Support Staff of Sports Organisation, Institutions and Departments.
The registration will open on 10th June 2020, Wednesday.
The registrations will close on 18th June 2020, Wednesday.
Participant’s Age should be between 10 and 65 years.
First 10,000 entries will pay only a nominal donation of Rs. 100 to support a cause, after which a fee of INR 250/- will be levied for each registration in addition to the donation amount
A link will be shared to enter the participant's run logs. Only runs registered on this link will be considered for tracking purposes.
Minimum distance to log in a run without the supporting documents is 5Kms.
The maximum distance that can be clocked in a day is 10 kms. Even if a participant clocks more than 10kms in a day, only 10kms will be taken into consideration.
The minimum distance for the qualification of Finisher t-shirt, mask and certificate is 65kms, at the end of 30 days.
The maximum distance to be clocked by an individual runner is 300Kms.
Participant can log multiple runs in a day.
For example: 5kms in the morning and 3kms in the evening. However, the total cannot exceed 10kms per day
The Run will begin on 20th June 2020, Saturday.
The Run will end on 20th July 2020, Monday.
All pending activities for the last 10 days can be uploaded to your activity log.
Strava is no longer compatible with Run To The Moon. Please upload run data manually along with the app link/screenshot. Past records will remain valid.
All registered participants will take the pledge of honour - "I promise that we shall take part in this virtual run, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship.""
